Christine Lara was 27 years old when rapid onset preeclampsia triggered the premature delivery of her son Christopher at 29 weeks.

After 7 weeks in neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), Christopher was able to come home and is now an active 4 year old.  When Christine was pregnant with her daughter Katie, she made it a little farther to 35 weeks including being on bedrest in the hospital for 2 weeks.

Christine says, ”While pregnant, the only thing I read about it was that it only happens to a small percentage of women and it was nothing really to worry about.  I completely disagree with that and think that there needs to be more awareness of what could possibly happen.“
