"Thousands of women and babies die or get very sick each year from a dangerous condition called preeclampsia, a life-threatening disorder that occurs only during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Preeclampsia and related disorders such as HELLP syndrome and eclampsia are most often characterized by a rapid rise in blood pressure that can lead to seizure, stroke, multiple organ failure and death of the mother and/or baby."

We had a wonderful, albeit freezing cold time at our second annual Promise Walk here in Cleveland! :)

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Cleveland site of the Promise Walk for Preeclampsia. I am a preeclampsia survivor. I will never view pregnancy the same. I have lived through this disease several times. My children have all survived, but, I have known early delivery, been robbed of the beautiful childbirth scene you see in movies, been on the dreaded mag, watched my babies in the NICU on ventilators....and I am actually one of the lucky ones. Too many women lose their children and even their own lives because of preeclampsia. Help me to take a stand. Promise to work towards finding a cure other than delivery. Promise to raise awareness to help more women and babies survive. Promise to help try to stop the heartache that too many know. Keep that promise by walking in our Promise Walk. I hope to see you there!
